Utilities At the time of vacating the property near closing utility accounts should be transfered. It is best that the sellers call the gas and electric companies to request a final reading but not a shut off. The purchasers should then contact the gas and electric company to have the service put in their name. Also the seller is responsible for the final water bill at the time of vacating The post office must be notified Drivers licenses must be updated It is the purchaser's responsibility to inform the municipality within 45 days of a change in ownership.
